12:00 Noon: Rally on the Capitol Steps!
Staff, clients, families and advocates from across various sectors of our work will be there, including individuals representing Supported Living, Housing, and Self-advocacy groups. Representative Jamila Taylor, Senator John Braun, Senator Claudia Kauffman, and Representative Darya Farivar will all be there in support. King 5 will be covering the event as well — let’s make our presence known!
All Day – Meet with your Legislators!
Please come to Olympia and meet with our legislators as it is the most effective way for your voice to be heard. Please bring your scarf from previous years’ rallies if you have it. You may also make and bring signs/posters to show your support for our services, but they will not be allowed in the Capitol or Legislative Buildings if you have appointments with legislators.
Some ideas for signs include:
- A Living Wage for Supported Living
- DSPs Deserve a Living Wage
- Value the Work? Value the Worker!
- We Support Supported Living!
- Livable Wage = Respect
- Equal Pay for Equal Work – Wage Parity Now!
Please be prepared for inclement weather and bring your own water and snacks. If you have any questions, you may contact Scott at livengood@alphasls.org or Randy at rhauck@community-living.org
